Red wine from Japan — Toyama, Japan
PINOT NOIR 2024 (Red)
KANATA winery / Toyama, Japan

About this wine
From Toyama Prefecture, KANATA winery presents PINOT NOIR 2024 (Red), a full-bodied Japanese wine crafted from Pinot Noir grapes harvested in Uozu City. This dry 750ml wine, with an 11.5% alcohol content, is gaining attention for reflecting the region's unique terroir.
This Pinot Noir, planted solely on the winemaker's intuition against opposition at a cultivation strategy planning meeting, is made through cold maceration followed by fermentation and aging in wooden barrels. For the 2024 vintage, due to variations in grape ripeness, the harvest was conducted in two stages. The second harvest was brought forward due to an impending typhoon, and with some limitations on cold maceration, the resulting wine has a generally pale appearance.
While still showing youthful characteristics, it offers a light finish with the distinct aroma, fruitiness, and rich umami of Pinot Noir. This red wine, reflecting the unique background of Toyama and the winemaker's dedicated efforts, is a suitable choice to complement a diverse range of dining scenes, particularly with seafood, by highlighting its delicate nuances.
