About this wine

The VIGNERONS RESERVE MERLOT 2022(Red) from VILLA D'EST winery in Nagano Prefecture is a full-bodied red wine made from 100% Merlot grapes, distinct from the Chardonnay in the same series from the same year. Crafted with 12.5% alcohol, this product meets the criteria for those specifically seeking a particular vintage and producer, ensuring they find the exact bottle they desire.

The 2022 growing season began with a long, cold winter. From early spring to early summer, low temperatures caused budding and flowering to be delayed compared to previous years. Although the growth delay was recovered through a sudden heatwave in late June and unsettled weather through July, the harvest began about a week later than usual due to rainfall and low temperatures from typhoons in mid-September onwards. Nevertheless, stable weather from mid-October and the efforts of the staff led to the harvest of healthy, high-quality grapes.

As a red wine from Nagano Prefecture born from grapes harvested after overcoming these weather conditions, you can add a bottle to your cellar that reflects VILLA D'EST winery's dedication and the unique climatic background of 2022. It can also be considered as an alternative varietal choice within the Reserve series for that year, representing a wine with its own distinct growing story.
