Red wine from Japan — Oita, Japan
KUJU MERLOT Catwalk 2021 (Red)
KUJU winery / Oita, Japan

About this wine
Two winery cats watch over the winemaking process from the factory window. This red wine, KUJU MERLOT Catwalk 2021, from KUJU winery in Oita Prefecture, carries a name reserved only for the year's most confident creations. Crafted from Merlot grapes from their own vineyards and contract farmers, and finished after barrel aging, this medium-bodied wine won a silver medal at the 2024 Japan Wine Competition.
Behind the charming first impression of the cat label lies a solid history. A dry taste unfolds with black fruit and earthy aromas, complemented by the vibrant acidity and minerality of grapes grown in the highlands, along with smoky and complex nuances. Within the 720ml bottle at 12.5% alcohol, the journey from the origin of the grapes to barrel aging and competition recognition is clearly connected.
Why not open a bottle of KUJU MERLOT Catwalk 2021 for a quiet evening, feeling the presence of the cats that inspired the label, and savoring it slowly in your glass?
